Gift Set for Concert Tickets and CD

For my husband's birthday this year I managed to get some tickets to a David Gilmour concert, including his new album! This is the packaging I made for the tickets and the CD. I paper pieced the guitar, and I made a pocket for the tickets.

I made my own embellishments out of patterned paper and cardstock; I made a pinwheel from patterned paper, and the clouds, the waves, and the starfish are cut out from the patterns on the paper. I used my photo editing software to make two photo blocks of 4 photos each. I also used a standard shape in the software as a template to cut the cardstock sun. To pick up the glitter from the patterned paper, I outlined the cardstock sun with glue and added some glitter. I raised three of the starfish with pop up adhesive.

The Best

As an end of the year gift, my son's class will be giving their teacher a scrapbook. It will contain a page from every child (35 of them) with their photo and writing. Darren typed in the journaling, and I made the rest of the page. I hope she will like it.

I created this page for ScrapStreet's Screenplay Challenge. I did not have much to write about my daughter's birthday cake, so I simply used a quote from the movie Wall.E as my journaling.

I changed the paper colors a bit to match my photos better. Since I love how it turned out, I think I will also make this page with traditional supplies.

Letter to Santa

Design Notes: Instead of paper I used felt to make my own embellishments. I scanned my daughter's letter, resized and rearranged the printing and printed this out on cardstock. I made an envelope to hold the original Letter To Santa and some extra journaling. The envelope is also a photo mat. I turned the photos into B/W and used two different photo filters to change the tone and match the paper colors.

Christmas Card Photo Shoot

I was looking through my scrapbooks this morning, and I realized I had not shared this layout with you yet, with last year's photos:



Christmas Card Photo Shoot

I used my photo editing software to crop and align the five square photos, then I printed the photo strip out on photo paper. But you can easily just crop photos to a small square and adhere these next to each other to a strip of cardstock instead. For a quick and easy title, I used a rub-on for the word Christmas on the journaling spot sticker, and I wrote “card photo shoot” with a pen on the banner sticker. I “inked” the edges of the papers with a marker.

I used "The Monkey Pack" by Heather Gerrits as my inspiration. I loved all the circles for my theme and the masking for the title. OK, I completely scraplifted it :D.

My Bee-autiful Larissa

Design Notes: I wanted the antennae to stick out from the photo, so I removed part of the photo background using the rectangular marquee tool and the eraser tool. I used a small soft brush eraser around the antennae. For the background I used two papers. To make the design fade away from left to right, I applied a layer mask to the top layer and dragged the linear gradient tool accross the paper. The top paper blending mode is set to Multiply with an Opacity of 45%. I used some rolled paint brush strokes to create a mask. With this mask I cut out the black paper behind the photo.

Design Notes: I cut along the design on a strip of patterned paper to make it look like a punched border or even a small banner, and then I inked the edges with a marker. I thought it looked a bit like a row of "teeth" so it would enhance the theme of my page.

Appel Flappen

Design Notes: Appel Beignets are a traditional Dutch holiday treat. My husband, and many other people, call these Appel Flappen instead, hence the title. I placed the photos in such a way that there is a bit of a white space path from the start to the end result. To further identify the steps in the recipe I used large numbers, which double as embellishment.
